Mathieu Challières left the world of big business and set up his own on an autumn day in 1997 when he decided to do to others what he has always done for him. Draw, make or have made, furniture and decorative objects . Inspired by baroque aesthetics and the allure of the 17th and 18th centuries, combining it with contemporary feel, Challières creats at his atelier in Paris lamps that definitely have humor, poetry and pragmatism. With them, he questions forms and usages and puts real feathers on fake birds and places them harmoniously in a shade made of copper wire. Each piece of the Les Volières  collection is made by hand and is unique, just like the way the birds are put in every lampshade, always differently!Hence, the colors always vary infinitely!
