Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka is known for his transparent products and the formal explorations of prisms and faceted surfaces. Collaborating with Italian Kartell, Yoshioka aimed to create pieces that would have the texture and cut of crystal glass but would be made out of plastic. The Sparkle collection of stools and side tables do have a visual interest and permit the light to reflect between their surfaces and the surrounding environment in which they are placed, creating a stunning effect. Made from polycarbonate, the Sparkle stools have a special pleating with ridges that gently curve around the sides and fan out across the tops.
