The 29-year-old Swiss/Italian designer Gian Franco Legler designed the Basket Chair for The Basket restaurant in Italy in 1951. Legler contracted local basket weavers and locksmiths to manufacture the first 52 chairs and two year4s later he received the Good Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York for the Basket Chair. Strong and highly stackable, the chair is made out of hand-woven rattan shell with a steel frame and is exceptionally comfortable and is suitable for bot residential and corporate use. The great advantage of the fine weaving structure on hot days is that it allows your body to breathe. The chair is back in production by AAREA company and is now available at Oikos!
