The Visitors Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is the creation of the architecture student team, Spyros Giotakis and Ayis-Panayiotis Mourelatos. SNFCC architect, Renzo Piano, selected the winning design during a national student architecture competition. Pure and simple, the Visitors Center is a light temporary structure, which will operate until SNFCC’s completion, at the beginning of 2016. The Center offers the public the opportunity to visit the construction site and learn more about the buildings, and to familiarize themselves with SNFCC’s vision and mission. The Visitors Center also offers a “snapshot” of what is to come at the SNFCC for adults and younger audiences, through exhibitions and other cultural and educational activities.
We attended its most recent event and took some photos of and Riga and BNC litter bins that are placed in various spots of the Visitors Center, in accordance to its aesthetics.
Above and below, the under construction building of the Greek National Opera that by the end of 2015 will have relocated to the SNFCC.
