Renzo Piano (Renzo Piano Building Workshop) designed the new “Municipal Park for Sports and Recreation” in Kallithea, a project funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Deborah Nevins and Associates in collaboration with H. Pangalou and Associates developed the landscape design of the Park. Located 2.75 miles south of the center of Athens, on the edge of Faliro Bay, the SNFCC is the first private-public partnership of its kind in Greece and one of the most important cultural and educational projects ever undertaken in the country.
Our Dual benches made out of wood and steel and the Circular litter bins made out of painted steel are smoothly and beautifully matched with the overall public space. The 28.000 sq.m. park is situated at part of the old Horce Race Course, next to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (under construction at the moment). It is expected to bring significant life improvement in the local community, and furthermore increase green public space in Athens.
The park includes swimming pools, football ground, children’s playground, as well as 3 buildings of total area 1.000 sq.m.
