The dividing line between the space of public squares, airport terminals and shopping malls is more blurred than ever, the concept of street furniture is redefined and we, at oikos, have been providing for many years our services, retailing and wholesaling furniture, lighting, and design items for private and public places that relate to urban design. One of our collaborations has been with The Mall Athens, a Shopping Center with brand name commercial chains, restaurants and cafés, innovative movie theatres, recreational areas and entertainment providing it with furniture pieces that one can find in all its four levels. The Mall Athens chose three products from oikos designed by Ross Lovegrove. Bd Love Planter is a seating piece with a distinctive shape, made from rotation moulded polyethylene and has a capacity for a generous quantity of plants (photo above).
Similarly, Bd Love bench made of the same material as the Bd Love Planter, is big enough for up to ten people and its sculptural shape was definitely an elegant and distinct selection for the well-known Shopping Center in Marousi, Athens.
The next Shopping Center project oikos involved in was the Golden Hall. In this project/collaboration oikos preferred 100% anodised aluminum and leather as materials. Mr.H bench designed by Joan Casas i Ortinez was our proposal for the seating areas of the mall and we had many reasons for it. Fully recyclable and manufactured by INDECASA with its environmentally friendly production processes, Mr.H provides a unique character to all levels of Golden Hall, a perfect product!
