About Us

oikos is a Greek owned company which retails and wholesales contemporary furniture, lighting and design items for homes, apartments, offices and public places such as restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs and hotels.

Since 1980 located in Kolonaki the heart of Athens, oikos, with its two showrooms, has remained as the most progressive and sophisticated furniture and object store.

Wood has traditionally been a classic material for all kinds of furniture. Contemporary design ideas usually include new materials that resulted from technological researches and evolutions. However, wood is and will always be used by top manufacturing companies for design pieces that have an eclectic style and aesthetic and we have a gorgeous selection of wooden products for your space. Starting with Pila and Pilo that we represent at oikos, Erwan Bouroullec designed them for MAGIS aiming to create light and versatile pieces. Pila has a plywood seat and back supported on an aluminium frame hidden under the seat. Similarly, the Pilo table features aluminum connectors between the wooden legs and its top.

Finnish design office Antti Kotilainen collaborated with ARPER and designed Aava chair (above), a piece with contemporary sinuous silhouette that is made of wood and is ideal for any environment, from the kitchen to your dining room or even your bedroom. In the same collection by ARPER is also the Ply set of low tables and stools (below), design by Studio Lievore Altherr Molina with playful geometry and great finishes.

For those of you who are interested in ash wood, Karm chair by Danish Henrik Sørig Thomsen for Softline Allkit is a comfortable piece that brings together the Scandinavian aesthetic and the Made In Italy tradition.

Long square strips of wood placed on two pots with planted trees that come out of round holes were enough for the unique Romeo & Juliet bench designed by Koen Baeyens, Stijn Goethals and Basile Graux of Vyvey & Partners for the Belgian manufacturer Extremis. Because wood is always a great choice for outdoor use, whether in private gardens or in public spaces.

Wood is a traditional material for furniture but we do have some other design pieces made of wood to warm your space. For the Scrapwood wallpaper collection (above), Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek put planks into paper inspired by the way old wood can be transformed to something else with very simple methods.

Last but not least, for the lovers of untreated wood, Yio lamp is part of a collection of handmade wooden and metal pieces that we have at Oikos!
