Multi-awarded designer duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec continue their exploration of sculpting wood and designed Uncino chair for Italian Mattiazzi. They actually subtly carved the wood seat, pan and backrest of this new product. All the sculpted ash sections in Uncino have been shaped using both hand carving and a numerically controlled milling machine and created task seating, aesthetically referencing ancient wood-carved furniture.
The wooden pieces of the chair are put in place by bent metal rods, which join them in an almost organic overlap! The lumber elements “hug” the metal frames, the materials actually intersect and the result is a super delicate chair with beautiful curves. The Bouroullecs give the option of natural wood or stained black finish options, two different backrests – one squarish and one more rectangular – and also a four-star swivel or a three-leg sledged base! An amazing furniture design that can look great in your home or workspace!
