The Met has a new space for contemporary art in the building once occupied by the Whitney.
We knew that The Metropolitan Museum of Art was located at 1000 Fifth Avenue, close to Central Park. But now there is a second Met – a couple of blocks away!
With the relocation of the Whitney museum, the Met rented its old building, designed by Marcel Breuer. It is a real jewel!
The Met Breuer, as it is called, opened its doors on 18th March, so we were glad to visit it on our trip to New York last week! We had the chance to see pieces of modern and contemporary art as well as the principal exhibition of Met Breuer, entitled: Unfinished, Thoughts Left Visible.
This exhibition examines a very critical question for artists: when a work of art is finished. It was a pleasure to navigate around the “new” Met and for sure we will be back again!
