Another masterpiece for FLOS has the signature of German Konstantin Grcic and since it was first presented at Fuorisalone, it was certain that it would attract both the media and the market attention. OK lamp which is already nominated for Best of Year Awards by Interior Design Magazine is a result of technological experimentation, dealt with the sensitivity that Grcic always works. Its shape which is a reinterpretation of Castiglioni’s Parentesi lamp. The tube of the original lamp maintains its vertical sliding function over the steel cable, but has now become a small rectangular box that cleverly houses the electronic components and a soft-touch switch. The cylindrical weight hanging at the bottom of Castiglioni’s design has been replaced with a conical weight that’s easier to install, but the small spun metal ceiling rose remains exactly the same. What’s super innovative though about OK is actually its bulb, which is no more the classic light bulb and is replaced by an ultra- flat LED surface with edge-lighting technology, rotating over 360 degrees, permitting the light to slide vertically from floor to ceiling. The handle for moving the lamp up and down the cable incorporates the electronic engine which drives the LEDs. The weight is cone shaped and easy to install.
