The German Design Council was founded as a foundation in 1953 by decree of the German Federal Parliament at the initiative of the German Parliament with an aim to support the business world in all aspects of design and is one of the world’s leading centers of expertise on design. Every year the Interior Innovation Award, design award of the furnishing sector, which is considered one of the most renowned design awards in the interior furnishing industry worldwide, is given by the German Design Council in association with the IMM Cologne Trade Fair to products that stand out for their innovative and quality characteristics.
In this year’s edition, the Winner prize is granted to Saya and Juno chairs, both by Italian Arper, a company that we represent at Oikos. Saya, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina is an oak plywood chair with a comfortable backrest and a bold silhouette that offers a variety of uses.
