The BREEDER SKIN, a new project by The Breeder gallery opened few days ago in Athens. The project brings the focus on the white minimalistic exterior of the gallery, rather than the interior. Once a year, a different artist will treat “the skin” of the building as a white canvas and will intervene with a semi-permanent artwork on its exterior walls. The inaugural intervention is by Athens-based street artist ATH1281 who stands out for his minimal aesthetic and humorous disposal with a strong presence in the streets of Athens. Although they are executed with spray and acrylic paint, his murals have a strong resemblance to drawings on paper with their sharp lines and absence of color. The gallery thus becomes his notebook where his trademark characters come to life, playing with the architecture of the building while commenting on the urban life, especially on the area where the gallery is located.
A presentation of ATH1281’s works on paper will be hosted until November 1st in the gallery, while the intervention on the outside walls will be on view until October 2015.
