3D Printing is the latest show at the Onassis Cultural Centre (OCC) of Athens that opened last night and will run until January 31st 2015. It is the first exhibition in Greece decdicated entirely to 3D printing and its groundbreaking possibilities, not only for industry but culture and creativity too. With over 80 pieces and videos by luminaries of art, architecture, fashion, science and product design, the exhibition presents an explosion of objects and projects representing historical milestones in the development of technology. 3D printing, curated by Double Decker, Wilhelm Finger and Melita Skamnaki, considers the work of carefully selected contemporary artists and designers, among which Patrick Join, Gabriela Ligenza, Andreas Schulz, Peters Donders and Richard Arm and explores innovative projects that have been informed by some of the greatest minds in the tech world. Meanwhile, design pioneers investigate otherwise impossible ideas and develop new innovative techniques. Moreover, the exhibition tests the borders of copyright and challenging ideas of resemblance. A series of workshops staged in parallel with the exhibition will provide plenty of opportunities for anyone wanting to create their own object to do so.
